Build an MVP with Lovable in 7 Days: Step-by-Step Guide
What You'll Build
This guide uses a customer feedback tool as our example MVP. The principles apply to any SaaS:
- User authentication (signup, login, logout)
- Dashboard with data visualization
- Core feature (in our case: feedback collection widget)
- Admin interface for managing data
- Deployed to production
Day 1: Foundation & Authentication
Goal: Working app with auth and basic structure
Morning: Project Setup
- Create new Lovable project
- Describe your app concept clearly
- Request Supabase integration
Example Prompt:
Create a customer feedback collection tool called FeedbackFlow. Users can create feedback widgets to embed on their websites, view collected feedback in a dashboard, and manage their account settings. Start with: landing page, user authentication (email/password), and a basic dashboard layout.
Afternoon: Authentication Flow
- Test signup flow
- Test login/logout
- Verify protected routes work
End of Day Checklist:
- Landing page renders
- Can create account
- Can log in and see dashboard
- Protected routes redirect to login
Day 2: Database Schema
Goal: Database tables for core data
Think through your data model first:
- What entities do you need? (users, widgets, feedback)
- What are the relationships? (user has many widgets, widget has many feedback items)
- What fields matter for MVP?
Example Prompt:
Create the database schema for FeedbackFlow:
- widgets table: id, user_id, name, website_url, created_at, settings (JSONB)
- feedback table: id, widget_id, message, email (optional), rating (1-5), page_url, created_at
Add appropriate indexes and foreign keys. Enable Row Level Security so users can only see their own widgets and feedback.
Verify in Supabase:
- Tables created correctly
- RLS policies are active
- Can manually insert test data
Day 3: Core Feature
Goal: Build the main value-generating feature
For FeedbackFlow, this is the widget creation and embed code:
Example Prompt:
Add widget management to the dashboard:
1. List of user's widgets with name, website, and feedback count
2. Create widget form (name, website URL)
3. Widget detail page showing embed code snippet
4. Generate a JavaScript embed code that creates a floating feedback button
Test Everything:
- Create a widget
- Copy embed code
- Test on a blank HTML page
- Submit test feedback
Day 4: Dashboard & Analytics
Goal: Visualize data meaningfully
Example Prompt:
Create a dashboard showing:
1. Total feedback count (all time and last 7 days)
2. Average rating across all feedback
3. Line chart of feedback over time (last 30 days)
4. Recent feedback list with message preview, rating, and timestamp
5. Filter by widget if user has multiple widgets
Polish:
- Add loading states
- Handle empty states (no feedback yet)
- Make it responsive for mobile
Day 5: User Settings & Polish
Goal: Complete user experience
Settings Page:
Add a settings page where users can:
- Update their email
- Change password
- Delete their account (with confirmation)
- See their plan/usage (for future billing)
Polish Items:
- Error messages
- Success toasts
- Loading indicators
- Mobile responsiveness
- Navigation improvements
Day 6: Landing Page & Onboarding
Goal: Convert visitors to users
Landing Page:
Improve the landing page with:
- Clear headline explaining the value ("Know what your users really think")
- 3 key benefits with icons
- How it works section (3 steps)
- Pricing section (even if free for now)
- CTA buttons to sign up
- Footer with links
Onboarding:
After a user signs up, show a welcome modal that guides them to create their first widget with a step-by-step wizard.
Day 7: Deploy & Test
Goal: Production-ready launch
Morning: Final Testing
- Test complete user journey
- Test on different browsers
- Test on mobile
- Check error states
Afternoon: Deploy
- Use Lovable's one-click deploy
- Connect custom domain (optional)
- Test production environment
- Set up basic monitoring
Launch Checklist:
- All features working
- No console errors
- Mobile responsive
- Loading states work
- Error handling works
- Production deployed
