Questions Your B2B SaaS Interviews Should Answer Before Shipping

If you cannot answer these questions confidently, you are not ready to ship a B2B SaaS product.

Who Specifically Has the Pain

Role + recent behavior. Two-axis. Two sentences max.

What Is the Trigger Event

The specific moment in their workflow that calls for a tool.

Who Is the Buyer

Title, level, what they care about, what they cut.

Who Is the Gatekeeper

Security, IT, finance. What floor must you clear?

Who Is the Champion

Inside the company, who would push for this purchase if they liked it? What motivates them?

What Are They Currently Spending

Existing tools, contractor hours, employee time. Quantified. Pricing anchor.

What Procurement Constraints Apply

SOC 2, SSO, data residency, audit logs, DPA terms, vendor consolidation pressure.

What Tools Does the Workflow Currently Span

Existing stack. Where does your product replace versus integrate?

What Did You Get Wrong

Which assumption did the interviews disconfirm? If "none," you were not listening.

What Is the Smallest Useful Slice

Narrowest product that solves the user pain, makes the buyer ROI easy, satisfies the gatekeeper baseline, and gives the champion something to push for. One sentence.

Do You Have Fifteen People Who Would Try It

Names. Emails. From across all three roles, not just users.

If You Cannot Answer One

Do five more interviews focused on it. Do not ship until the answer is there.
