Where Idea Filters Break at Scale
Past v1 product, v1 filters break.
Failure Modes
- Reachability is solved. You have an audience now. F1 always passes. Filter loses signal.
- Adjacent spend is everywhere. Once you have customers, every adjacent feature has spend.
- Three named buyers is trivial. Customers will name three for any new feature you mention.
- You skip filtering because it is no longer selective. Then a feature ships that no one used.
The Fix
Replace v1 with: customer-pull strength, ARR impact, contractor scope reuse, brand fit.
When to Retire
Once your audience is real, retire v1 filters. Use them only when entering brand-new categories.
